Announcing our 1st companion video

As we count down until the book is available, we’re starting to release the companion videos to our book. We’re very excited about these videos and can’t wait to discuss them with you.

Our goal for these videos is to illustrate some of the situations that a moderator may encounter and generate discussion about how to approach it. The videos highlight some of the techniques we describe in the book (what we call moderation patterns), but there are a lot of variables to consider when deciding how, when, and even if to use them. Be sure to read more about our approach to these videos before watching!

Today’s video features an on-site session with a moderator, participant, and observer in the same room. The observer can’t keep his reactions to himself, disrupting the session and causing the moderator to take action!

Follow us on Twitter to talk about this video and to get updates as we release the rest of the videos.
